How to install and set up Centizero

Hi, welcome to this cool and great looking wordpress theme. It has some really awesome and amazing featured such as a cool slider, for you’re featured work and a amazing theme admin panel where you can ad your services, contact widget, forntpage items, slogans for different sections and portfolio editing, this themes comes with a nice and clean blog page with a nice hover effect on the images, it also comes with threaded comments and the timthumb script for the featured slider, blog front page images, portfolio images, and homepage latest work images.

You just need to Upload one rather large image, ad the image url inside Centizero Custom Post Options and the TimThumb script will do the magic for you.

Let’s begin with installing Centizero

I’m not going to explain to you’ll how to install wordpress and how you need to upload a new theme, for this i would recommend to visit wpbeginner. Okay when you’ve installed WordPress and Centizero activate it, once activated we need to remove the current dummy page, post and comment, remove them and then we will continue importing the posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags from the WordPress export file that was present inside the zip file.

We will do this by going to Tools –> Import and select “WordPress”

Then on the next window locate your XML file and upload it, now You will be asked to map the authors in this export file to users on the blog. Select you account and select to import images/attachments as well. When all went well you will get a nice confirmation.

Reading Settings

Next on the list will be setting up the “Reading Settings” by going to Settings –> Reading and at the Front page displays select A static page (select below) then use “Home” as Front page and “Blog” as Posts page.

Don’t forget to save your changes.

Threaded (nested) Comments

Now we need to activate the threaded (nested) comment settings, this setting is disabled by default, so if you want to use the threaded (nested) comments then go to Settings –> Discussion and select “Enable threaded (nested) comment …”

Permalink Settings

Next on the list are the Permalink setting, we all want some nice and clean links for our page, category and posts titles. To achieve this just go to Settings –> Permalinks and select “Custom Structure” write /%postname%/ inside the input field, there’s one problem though, some hosts are handling these permalink settings differently, when the normal method does not work try to ad this index.php?/%postname%/ or else contact your host for help on this matter.

Don’t forget to save your changes.

Homepage Settings

Let’s move on with the Homepage Settings of Centizero, all the content is editable throughout the theme’s admin panel. Go to Centizero Settings and you will see an amazing theme admin panel with loads of editing options and functions, we will cover them section by section.
1. Choose your featured category. This will be used to display featured work on the homepage slider.

2. How many featured projects do you want to display on the homepage slider? (Deafault: 4)

3. Enter a title for the about section. This will be displayed on all pages.

4. Enter some text for the about section. This will be displayed on all pages. You can use HTML to add paragraphs.

5. Enter slogan title. This will be displayed on the homepage.

6. Enter slogan text. This will be displayed on the homepage.

7. Enter a title for the offer section. This will be displayed on the homepage.

8. Enter some text for the about section. This will be displayed on all pages. You can use HTML to add paragraphs, lists and other elements.
When defining values, avoid using quotes (ie.) – WordPress will add them automatically.

9. Enter a title for the latest work section. This will be displayed on the homepage.

10. Choose your projects category. This will be used to display recent work on the homepage.

11. How many latest projects do you want to display on the homepage? Please make sure its an even number. (Deafault: 4)

About us Settings

The About us Page is editable through a normal page, the only thing you need to edit inside the admin panel is the slogan for the about us section. The content of the About us page is editable throughout Pages –> Edit –> About us, all you need to do ad your own content just the way you prefer. To change the slogan title and the slogan catchline just go to the Centizero Settings and at the About us section change.

1. Enter slogan title. This will be displayed on the about us page.

2. Enter slogan text. This will be displayed on the about us page.

Services Settings

The services settings are fully editable throughout the theme’s admin panel, you can use html tags such as li, strong, italic etc. The category your selecting inside this section have nothing to do with normal category’s, this selection will only assign a particular icon to that section. When you want to change the icons you just need to open /assets/css/master.css and somewhere on line 404 you can change the icons for this section.

1. Enter slogan title. This will be displayed on the services page.

2. Enter slogan text. This will be displayed on the services page.

3. Enter a title for Service 1. This will be displayed on the services page.

• 3.1. Enter a description for Service 1. This will be displayed on the services page.
• 3.2. Enter a category for Service 1. This will display an icon next to its title.

4. Enter a title for Service 2. This will be displayed on the services page.

• 4.1. Enter a description for Service 2. This will be displayed on the services page.
• 4.2. Enter a category for Service 2. This will display an icon next to its title.

5. Enter a title for Service 3. This will be displayed on the services page.

• 5.1. Enter a description for Service 3. This will be displayed on the services page.
• 5.2. Enter a category for Service 3. This will display an icon next to its title.

6. Enter a title for Service 4. This will be displayed on the services page.

• 6.1. Enter a description for Service 4. This will be displayed on the services page.
• 6.2. Enter a category for Service 4. This will display an icon next to its title.

7. Enter a title for Service 5. This will be displayed on the services page.

• 7.1. Enter a description for Service 5. This will be displayed on the services page.
• 7.2. Enter a category for Service 5. This will display an icon next to its title.

8. Enter a title for Service 6. This will be displayed on the services page.

• 8.1. Enter a description for Service 6. This will be displayed on the services page.
• 8.2. Enter a category for Service 6. This will display an icon next to its title.

Portfolio Settings

The portfolio section is rather easy to set up, the portfolio items are pulled from the work category or whatever type of category you select inside the theme admin panel, then all you need to do is write a portfolio post and ad the image url inside the Centizero Custom Post Options field and it will resize it automatically and puts inside the portfolio page, it will be viewable inside the blog section as well so you can write a more complex portfolio item. The excerpt will be visible on the portfolio page and when a visitor clicks the title they will be redirected to the post it self.

1. Enter some text for the Back to top link.

2. Enter some text for the tip message. This will be displayed at the top of your Portfolio page.

3. Choose a category that will be displayed on your portfolio page.

Centizero Custom Widgets Settings

Centizero is using one custom widget which is fully editable throughout the theme’s admin panel, you can use it for contact details, a nice advertising space or whatever, just edit this section.

1. Enter your contact details title.

2. Enter your contact details. You can use p, li, strong etc tags and line-breaks to separate lines.

How to write a Portfolio and Blog post

To create a Portfolio post just go to Posts –> Add New and give the post the title of your work, then ad some content inside, you wont have to consider the excerpts because this has been set inside the functions.php file, if you still want to change the excerpt length then open up functions.php and on line 556 change the number 26 (return 26;) to which ever you prefer.

Next you need to insert the portfolio view image (portfolio page) and the featured section image (homepage) , upload a new image with a rather large dimension, i would recommend something like 1000×800 or higher. Then copy the image link and place it inside the Centizero Custom Post Options. Oh before i forget, the Lightbox can only be activated inside the blog posts once you’ve added a rel called “facybox”. This way you control which image will use the lightbox effect.

1. Using the “Add an Image” button, upload an image and paste the URL here. This is the Article’s main image and will automatically be sized.

2. Here you can specify the live url of your work.

Select the Featured category if you only want to show the image inside the featured section image (homepage), select the featured and work category if you want to show on both category’s.  Okay that it, if you’ve got anymore questions about the installation and set-up of this theme then please read it over again and if anything fails then send me a email throughout my themeforest contact page.
